Required qualifications: Master's degree in health education/health promotion, public health, social work, psychology or other health-related field. Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Preferred qualifications: Ph.D., MPH (or equivalent degree with major coursework in health education, health promotion or community health). More than two years experience conducting substance abuse prevention on a college campus. CHES certification preferred. Certification in substance abuse counseling or LCDC. Experience implementing and evaluation NIAAA Tier 1 strategies on a college campus. Extensive knowledge of current and emerging college health issues, intervention methods, health education/health promotion theories, and evidence-based practice, as well as demonstrated ability to apply this knowledge to a college-age population through assessment, program planning, and evaluation. Experience leading campus/community coalitions. Experience teaching and advising peer educators. Experience in grant writing and grant administration. The Health Promotion Department at the University of Georgia Health Center has an opening for an Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) Health Educator. Description

The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) is accepting applications for Coordinator for Student Judicial Affairs. This position is an entry level position. This position will receive, investigate and process all student judicial referrals, observing confidentiality throughout the judicial process. The individual will conduct preliminary meetings with students, coordinate student judicial hearings and prepare all student information as required for appeals. This position assists appropriate departments, faculty and staff in responding to possible violations of university rules, regulations and policies via the student judicial system. The Coordinator proactively educates the campus community on issues including drug/alcohol preventions, scholastic dishonesty and other crime prevention programs as needed. Liaison with campus police, counseling services, campus housing, and health services as assigned. Periodically assists with other departmental projects and serves on university committees. Performs additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

The successful applicant will have three years experience in college/university setting providing direct service to students. Additional education may be substituted for experience on a one for one basis. Demonstrated decision making in the disciplinary processes and experience in programming on one or more of the following: scholastic dishonesty, alcohol/drug issues, or crime prevention programs is also required. Prefer experience working with housing and university college students.

This position reports to the Director of the Student Health Center and involves interaction with students and the university community at large to influence positive behaviors. The Health Educator is expected to have a significant impact on the alcohol and other drug choices of students generally, and those living in residence specifically. The Health Educator works directly and collaboratively with other Campus Life and university departments on behalf of student needs around health, fitness and wellness. This position works with a moderate degree of autonomy. Principal Accountabilities Administers, organizes, implements, and presents alcohol and other drug education programs for students. Develops strategies and creates, coordinates, and provides programs to increase students knowledge of other health and wellness issues including, but not limited to, HIV / AIDS, infectious diseases, smoking cessation, contraception, and stress reduction. Facilitates the provision of one on one and group counseling education sessions on the use and abuse of alcohol and other drugs. Works cooperatively with, and provides consultation to campus administrators, Student Health Center staff, student organizations, athletics, and Housing staff concerning alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs as well as other health and wellness topics. Core survey results indicate rates of alcohol and drug use among AU students that are at the national averages and speak to the necessity of a more coordinated approach to these issues. This position is the point person for this coordination and will provide services that are important from a risk management as well as educational perspective.

The Health Promotion/Outreach area is a holistic approach to community well-being focused on students through on-campus offerings (media, courses, workshops, special events) that take place day, evening, and weekends and includes student group supervision and coordination with the numerous student organizations on campus; developing, promoting, implementing, and evaluating offerings, media, and campus-wide initiatives; and collaborating with residential life and working closely with undergraduate and graduate students to ensure a sense of balance and well-being. Reporting directly to the Director of Behavioral Health & Academic Counseling responsibilities include budgeting, scheduling, managing staff, monitoring service standards, quality management, problem solving, development and implementation of information systems, report generation and analysis.

Required Education, Experience and Skills: Basic Requirement: Master's degree in Wellness Management, Health and Fitness, Health Sciences and Education, Physical Education or an equivalent field required with proven experience in managing wellness/health promotion programs within a clinical, HMO, university and/or community setting.
