HEC/News—Alcohol, Other Drug, and Violence-Related News and Information

The HEC/News service disseminates news and information related to alcohol and other drug abuse and violence (AODV) prevention on campus and in surrounding communities. Subscribers receive up to three news stories daily, helping to keep them up-to-date on the latest issues and concerns around college AODV prevention across the country. Each HEC/News e-mail includes a citation with article title, news outlet, date, and an excerpt from the article.

In addition to receiving the latest news stories, every Friday HEC/News subscribers receive the following:

  • Incidents: A weekly compilation of news reports concerning college student deaths, injuries, and arrests
  • Campus Press Watch: A weekly compilation of college and university press accounts of alcohol, other drug, and violence issues on their own campuses
  • Announcements: Weekly announcements, including upcoming conferences and events, new resources and publications, and job opportunities in the AODV prevention field

HEC/News Digest

In this alternate digest format, subscribers receive a single, weekly e-mail containing all the information received in the daily format.
