Abstract:

Caffeinated alcoholic beverages, a combination of energy drinks and alcohol, recently have been implicated in at least one episode of multiple cases of alcohol poisoning. However, the extent of use of these beverages and their health consequences are not well understood by the public health community. The aim of this paper is to outline the scope of this emerging public health problem and suggest areas of research that might help address it.
