Why is an environmental approach needed?

In the presence of so many messages and opportunities that promote problematic drinking, students need help making healthy decisions about their alcohol use.
The environment is polluted with these messages. That is why focusing on individuals with awareness and education activities alone is fighting an uphill battle. These strategies are part of a good approach, but they’re not going to do the job alone. These measures are necessary but by themselves insufficient.
