"It doesn't take long to spot University of Florida students walking late at night through the streets around campus. Occasionally they're drunk, sometimes they're alone, and often they're distracted as they talk on cell phones. ..."

"Gainesville Police have since stepped up patrols, conducted stakeouts and reached out to the community in an effort to stop the crimes from occurring. University Police are considering extending a nighttime escort program off campus. ..."

"A community meeting was held with a neighborhood group. Police and UF officials say that making sure residents are vigilant in calling in crimes and getting students to change their behaviors can help prevent strong-arm robberies. ..."
