Basu: Please, don't look the other way any longer

Described as smart, creative and outgoing, 22-year-old Cliffton Murove was working toward a graduate degree in economics, and playing a leadership role in several Drake University organizations. But this week, his friends are raising money to transport his body back to his native Zimbabwe. He died over the weekend after falling off an apartment balcony. His companions said he was drunk.
Such a tragic and needless end to a life of promise is hard to take under any circumstances. The fact that Murove had traveled so far to get here makes it that much tougher to fathom. It's one more wake-up call for parents and universities about the epidemic of student binge drinking.
