Bourne fake ID checks criticized

"'I think we were duped,' Andrew Murphy, owner and operator of the Lost Dog Canal Cafe, said recently as he prepared the specials just ahead of the dinner rush."
"Murphy was referring to compliance checks that took place on Oct. 30 by the Bourne police department and an underage Massachusetts Maritime Academy student armed with a fake, registry issued, state ID..."
"But Murphy thinks the sting was unfair. According to Murphy and the Bourne police, a female employee at the Lost Dog carded the underage student and served him after he produced an ID showing he was 21. And now Murphy is fighting the warning, saying that it is illegal to perform a check in that way..."
