“A proposal to allow Chadron bars to stay open until 2 a.m. was soundly rejected by the Chadron City Council Monday, after council members heard Chadron State College personnel suggest that it might worsen alcohol related problems in the student population and a local doctor question the benefits of an additional hour in the bars.”

“But the city will keep the requirement for dog owners to license their pets, despite one council member's argument that the license fee doesn't convey any benefits to residents. …”
