The Higher Education Center is pleased to make the following announcements:

1) Men Can Stop Rape Annual Conference: Men and Women as Allies

Men Can Stop Rape is hosting a Conference, "Men and Women as Allies: National Conference on the Primary Prevention of Men's Violence Against Women," April 14-15, 2009, at the Hyatt Regency Washington on Capitol Hill, in Washington, DC. Registration is $225 before March 31, 2009, and $245 after this date.

The conference will:

-Present cutting-edge theory and practice
-Feature keynote addresses by members of the new presidential administration
-Offer meetings with congressional members
-Set a new agenda for prevention-focused collaborations
-Emphasize the voices of young people

Rape crisis and domestic violence center personnel, educators, youth-serving professionals, health care professionals, mental and behavioral health providers, social workers, health professional students, health policy leaders, activists, advocates for victims of domestic violence, and others are encouraged to attend.

2) Webinar: Measuring Impact

EDC and the Jed Foundation are hosting a Webinar, "Measuring Impact," Wednesday, April 1, 2009, 2:30 - 4:00 p.m. Eastern Time. There is no registration fee for this Webinar.

This Webinar will provide a basic orientation to the design and implementation of process and outcome evaluations for programs that promote mental health and reduce risk factors for suicide and suicidal behavior.

This session will cover:

-Key methods of quantitative and qualitative program evaluation
-Experiences of one campus in planning an evaluation of a widely-used training program
-How to work with your program evaluator in developing an appropriate evaluation plan

3) Webinar: Alcohol and Drug Education for Student-Athletes

myPlaybook is hosting a Webinar, "Alcohol and Drug Education for Student-Athletes," Thursday, March 26, 2009, 12:00 - 1:00 p.m. Eastern Time. There is no registration fee for this Webinar.

myPlaybook is an evidence-based program designed to reduce alcohol and other drug use among student-athletes.

The myPlaybook program includes:

-Standardized education regarding the NCAA banned substances
-Easy to use method of meeting NCAA minimum guidelines for drug education
-Interactive web-based learning exercises
-Tools to track student progress
-Tools to track dissemination of NCAA banned substances list
