The Higher Education Center is pleased to make the following announcements:

1) A Call to Men National Conference 2009: "Stand Up and Speak Out"

A Call to Men is hosting the 2009 National Conference, "Stand Up and Speak Out! To End Violence Against Women," May 21-22, 2009, at the Theater at John Jay College of Criminal Justice, in New York, New York. Registration for the event is $125.

This conference will be a gathering of men and women for the purpose of increasing knowledge while strategizing and organizing to end violence against women in the community. A Call to Men is excited and honored to host this collective effort to Stand Up and Speak Out to end domestic violence, sexual violence, and all forms of violence and discrimination against women and girls.

2) Alcohol Responsibility Conference 2009: Call for Session Proposals

Do you have a success story to share? Has your community found an effective way to promote responsible alcohol consumption? Does your campus have a unique approach that you think others could benefit from learning?

Training for Intervention ProcedureS (TIPS) is seeking a select group of people to present breakout sessions at their Alcohol Responsibility Conference 2009 in Orlando, Florida, September 29-October 1, 2009. Breakout sessions will be offered in the following topic areas:

-Universities
-Community Partnerships
-Training
-Licensee Operations
-Enforcement
-Legal

The purpose of the breakout sessions is to present attendees with new ideas and strategies to help communities and campuses prevent the misuse of alcohol and promote responsible alcohol consumption. TIPS is looking for best practices, innovative ideas, and success stories that others can learn from and emulate in their communities.

If you have a topic you think would benefit attendees, you are invited to submit a proposal by February 20, 2009. TIPS will review all proposals the week of February 23, 2009, and contact presenters for sessions under consideration by March 6, 2009.

Proposals should be paragraph descriptions or brief outlines of the topic. Please indicate which topic area(s) you believe the session would best fit. Please e-mail all questions and session proposals to conference@gettips.com with "ARC 2008 Session Proposal" as the subject line. Be sure to provide your contact information.
