The Higher Education Center is pleased to make the following announcements:
1) Interdisciplinary Institute for Hazing Intervention
HazingPrevention.org is hosting a Hazing Prevention Institute, "Men and Women as Allies: National Conference on the Primary Prevention of Men's Violence Against Women," June 10-13, 2009, at Butler University, in Indianapolis, Indiana. Registration is $750 before May 1, 2009, and $800 after this date.
Highlights of the Institute include:
-An introduction to various prevention and intervention models that have proven effective including the environmental and bystander responsibility models
-An understanding of the personal, cultural and environmental complexity that defines hazing, and solid approaches to discussing the issue with students
-Coalition-building training for developing partners in prevention within your own community, and sharing knowledge gained at the institute to develop comprehensive, year-round, multi-level, effective hazing prevention programming
-Use of a variety of teaching methods, including large group presentations, small group work, individual coaching, personal reading, writing and planning

2) 2009 National Conference on Health Communication, Marketing and Media
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's National Center for Health Marketing and the Office of Enterprise Communications are hosting the third National Conference on Health Communication, Marketing and Media, August 11 - 13, 2009, at the Omni Hotel in Atlanta, Georgia. Registration is $375 before May 22, 2009, and $430 after this date. Student registration is $185 before May 22, 2009, and $225 after this date.
The conference objectives include:
-Provide an environment to present findings and recommendations from health communication, marketing, and media research
-Offer participants an opportunity to network as well as promote information sharing and interdisciplinary collaboration within the health communication, marketing, and media communities
-Advance the practice of health communication, marketing, and media through sharing exemplary programs
