The Higher Education Center is pleased to make the following announcements:

1) 2009 California Higher Education Alcohol and Other Drugs Education Conference

The California State University is hosting the 8th Annual California Higher Education Alcohol and Other Drugs Education Conference, "Supporting Healthy Outcomes on College Campuses," October 26-27, 2009, at the Oakland Marriott Hotel and Convention Center and the CSU, East Bay - Oakland Center, in Oakland, California. Registration for the conference is $600 per higher education institution team (includes 4 people's registration), $100 per additional staff, and $50 per additional student (please note that students graduating in Spring 2009 will be eligible for the student fee). The deadline to register: Friday, October 2, 2009.

The California Higher Education Alcohol and Other Drugs Education Conference recognizes the importance of building a comprehensive approach to implement quality alcohol, other drugs, and violence interventions based on evidence-based research to effectively protect our students and community. The conference will focus on fostering an environment conducive to learning about cutting-edge research and new strategies in the field, hearing about innovative best practices and policies on college campuses, discovering the latest services provided for students, exploring emerging challenges that college campuses may be facing, and a chance to share information and experiences with peers.

2) National Conference on Health Communication, Marketing, and Media 2009

The Center for Disease Control and Prevention's National Center for Health Marketing and the Office of Enterprise Communications are sponsoring the third National Conference on Health Communication, Marketing and Media, August 11-13, 2009, at the Omni Hotel, in Atlanta, Georgia. Registration for the conference is $375 on or before May 22, 2009, and $430 after this date. Student registration is $185 on or before May 22, 2009, and $225 after this date.

The Third Annual National Conference on Health Communication, Marketing and Media provides participants the opportunity to interact and network with a broad spectrum of health communications and marketing leaders across public health, health care, academic and private sectors. The conference will provide the opportunities to learn about innovative health marketing techniques, the most recent research finds and theoretical developments, and new ways to engage partners.
