The Higher Education Center is pleased to make the following announcements:
1) Save the Date! Higher Education Center Webinar - January 20, 2010
The Higher Education Center for Alcohol, Drug Abuse, and Violence Prevention is launching its Webinar series with its first free Webinar on Wednesday, January 20, 2010, 1:30 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.
Title: A Comprehensive Approach to Alcohol and Other Drug Prevention
Speaker: John Clapp, Director, Higher Education Center for Alcohol, Drug Abuse, and Violence Prevention
Learning Objectives:
At the conclusion of this 90-minute Webinar, participants will be able to:
-Describe national data about college student AOD use.
-Explain the environmental management approach to AOD prevention.
-Begin to assess AOD issues unique to your campuses.
-Explain how these concepts can be applied to a real-world AOD issue.
-Access the Center resources and services for tailored assistance for your AOD prevention needs.

2) Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Risky Drinking Webinar
On behalf of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, Laufer Green Isaac Strategic Communications is delighted to moderate a 90-minute, no-cost Webinar, which answers questions about to high-risk drinking as related to adolescents, primarily on college campuses.

Why:
This 90-minute Webinar will focus on the latest research, best practices, suggested resources, tools and references useful to the public, community and student health, and college leaders who are working to address college drinking problems across the country.
The Webinar will feature remarks by experts who will identify critical gaps in knowledge, practice and approaches, review and synthesize evidence-based findings about the effectiveness of prevention approaches for moderating alcohol use, and the related harms by college youth resulting in a framework for evidenced university leadership, followed by brief presentations on selected research and the framework for evidenced action. Tools that you can implement that day for fast, effective change will be shared.
Following these presentations, the experts will take all questions about high-risk alcohol use and answer them on the spot.
