Campus-based alcohol and drug (AOD) and violence prevention efforts are more effective when they are guided by the latest research and tailored to local campus circumstances. Key to this process is conducting a campus-based assessment and consulting the research literature. Linda Langford will begin the webinar with a description of a strategic planning process that can use used to create data-driven, tailored AODV and violence prevention efforts. Amy Kiger, who directs both violence prevention and substance abuse prevention efforts at the University of Central Missouri, will then describe examples of how they have gathered and used data and research to guide the development of both their sexual assault prevention and AOD prevention initiatives. Her presentation will include recommendations and tips for conducting local assessments and using the data effectively.

2) Registration is open for the 2010 Montana Summer Institute for Positive Community Norms!
Please join us in beautiful Big Sky, MT for the 8th annual Montana Summer Institute on July 14-16, 2010. The Summer Institute will offer an interactive, skill-building experience that focuses on the next level of social norms: The Positive Community Norms Model. With the assistance of other national leaders, Dr. Jeff Linkenbach will lead discussions and workshops where participants will practice applying all seven steps of the Montana Model. The optional one-day, pre-Institute session on July 13th is highly recommended for individuals who are new to the field or want an overview of the theory and practice of the Positive Community Norms model.
Come learn about the state of the art Positive Community Norms model which involves combining transformation leadership, positive norms campaign, and prevention portfolio management to improve community health.
