The Higher Education Center is pleased to make the following announcements:

1) Announcing HigherEdCenter.org

Dear Colleague,

With the academic year in full swing, we invite you to experience the bold, new appearance of the Higher Education Centers Web site, www.higheredcenter.org. With the improved design, many new features have been added, making the site richer in information and easier to use:

 The universal navigation system enables visitors to identify where they are on the site and effortlessly jump from one area of content to the next.
 The home page and overall design feature a cleaner, more accessible look.
 Searching, browsing, and ordering Center Publications is now easier than ever.
 New content areas address topics that interest you, including Coalitions, Strategic Planning, and the Clery Act.
 Existing content areas are updated and expanded, including Other Drugs and Environmental Management.
 Related Links and Resources associated with many sections of the site have been updated and expanded.
 Examples of effective prevention programs from campuses around the country, now called Field Examples, have been updated to feature additional groundbreaking programs and policies.
 Visitors can now search for and browse the U.S. Department of Educations Model AOD Program grantees.

2) New Example from the Field from the Higher Education Center: Alcohol Wellness Alternatives, Research, & Education (AWARE)

The U.S. Department of Education's Higher Education Center for Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse and Violence Prevention is proud to announce the addition to its Field Examples page of the case study on the University of Wyoming's (UW's) approach to personal wellness via guidance, education, research, and collaboration focused on healthy choices about the use of alcohol and other drugs. The Center prepared the case study on behalf of the Department's Office of Safe and Drug-Free Schools.

AWARE strives to utilize best practices in providing alcohol and other drug abuse education and prevention programming for the University of Wyoming campus and community. It promotes a standard of wellness in regard to healthy choices surrounding alcohol use and the prevention of illicit other drug use by college students.

3) Free Webinars on Campus Mental Health Planning

The Jed Foundation and Education Development Center, Inc. invite you and other stakeholders in the health and wellness of your student body to join us for the CampusMHAP (Mental Health Action Planning) webinar series.

There is no cost to participate in these four expert-led online events that will guide your team in developing the most effective approach to promoting mental health and intervening with at-risk students at your college or university. These sessions will provide valuable content to schools of all sizes, locations and demographics around the following topics:

1. Building momentum to address student mental health and wellness
2. Identifying institution-specific priorities
3. Implementing programs, policies and services
4. Measuring impact of campus efforts

Each webinar is live, giving attendees the opportunity to pose questions to the presenters. Attendees will pre-register to view the live event online and use a toll-free telephone number for the webinar audio. After running live, each webinar will be made available on The Jed Foundation's site along with tools that campus teams can use to engage in the strategic process outlined in CampusMHAP sessions.
