House panel OKs tougher penalties for fake ID use

"A Utah House committee has approved a bill that would punish people who use fake IDs to buy alcohol in a bar by revoking their driver's licenses for a year."

"[The bill's sponsor] says he's sponsoring House Bill 129 because state law doesn't punish minors who sneak into bars severely enough..."

"Under [the] bill, the minor would be liable for fines imposed by the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control. Anyone caught using a fake ID also would be charged with a class B misdemeanor on the first offense..."
