Law enforcement to enforce underage drinking laws near WSU this weekend

“Law enforcement officers from the Winona Police Department, Winona County Sheriff’s Office and the Goodview Police Department are stepping up underage drinking patrols which coincide with Winona State University’s move-in days activities to enforce underage drinking laws and charge adults who provide alcohol to minors. The Enforcing Underage Drinking Laws College Enforcement program is administered by the Minnesota Department of Public Safety.”

“‘We aim to set a tone for the year that underage drinking and providing alcohol to minors will not be tolerated,’ says Deputy Chief Tom Williams of the Winona Police Department. ‘The dangers - binge drinking, alcohol poisoning, violent behavior and impaired driving - put college students and the greater community at risk.’ …”
