"In a speech today at a conference on alcohol, drug abuse and violence in higher education, LeMoyne-Owen College president Johnnie B. Watson plans to forcefully speak out against lowering the drinking age."

"Watson, who taught at Rhodes College and was a superintendent of the Memphis City Schools, will ask fellow panelists, 'how could over 100 college presidents advocate lowering the drinking age to 18 years when the data substantiate that alcohol consumption impairs judgment and contributes to a litany of other ills and health concerns for students and for society?' according to his prepared remarks. ..."
