Police to beef up presence at Cal Poly

"San Luis Obispo police are planning a large presence in the city this weekend after a crowd of about 1,000 people formed near Cal Poly late Tuesday, and a number of young people were treated for alcohol-related ailments at a local hospital."

"The San Luis Obispo Police Department expects to put more than twice the number of officers on the street than it would on a normal weekend, and is redirecting resources nearer to the campus."

"The department has four bicycle officers working the downtown area, six patrol officers, and one lieutenant and sergeant on duty on a typical weekend night, police spokesman Capt. Ian Parkinson said. ..."
