There is strong anecdotal information about steroids and the early deaths of former NFL players who used them, but there are no studies that accurately measure the effects. The use of steroids by athletes is secretive so exactly what they took, for how long and in what doses is not recorded -- hence links between steroid use and long-term health effects are not well known."
