"'We're replacing the sanction of 'you can't have parties and you can't have gatherings' with something that has a whole lot more teeth to it," Upham said.'"

"With the new sanctions, a fraternity that violates campus alcohol or drug policies will have its pledge class for the next recruitment cycle reduced by 33 percent. A second violation garners a 50 percent restriction and a third violation results in loss of recognition and ability to use the campus house..."

"Administrators adopted the new language with the support and input of student fraternity leaders, as well as their advisers, he said..."
