UD police want jurisdiction over off-campus frat houses

"One city in New Castle County contains two separate police departments."
'The University of Delaware employs 50 sworn officers, but their authority ends at the edge of campus. The 68-member Newark Police Department covers the rest of the state's third-largest city, including five of UD's 12 official Greek houses."
"Although associated with and recognized by the university, the four fraternities and one sorority reside on private property off campus, putting them in Newark police territory. But a new proposal floated by university police would extend UD's primary jurisdiction to the five houses scattered around the city. ..."
