The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) announces DrugPubs, a new Research Dissemination Center that began operation September 22, 2008.
DrugPubs replaces NIDA’s participation in the National Clearinghouse for Alcohol and Drug Information (NCADI) Web site and 1-800 telephone service, which has been managed by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) for more than 20 years. NIDA is making the switch to improve cost efficiency and to streamline dissemination of its research-based products to the public. NIDA publications can now be ordered via 1-877-NIDA NIH (1-877-643-2644), or 1-240-645-0228 (TDD). Order requests can also be e-mailed to: drugpubs@nida.nih.gov. Look for the DrugPubs icon on NIDA’s Web site.
NCADI will continue to offer publications developed by SAMHSA and the Office of National Drug Control Policy; however, callers interested in NIDA publications will now be referred to the new telephone number. The transition to the new service is anticipated to last several months, and NIDA welcomes feedback about any problems encountered when ordering publications.
