In October 2010, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention released the Gateway to Health Communication and Social Marketing Practice Web site. The site is dedicated to supporting effective health communication and social marketing campaigns and programs.

Among many other resources, the site includes the Health Communicator’s Social Media Toolkit.

This guide focuses on:

  • Developing governance for social media
  • Determining channels to best meet communication objectives
  • Creating social media strategy
  • Understanding popular channels (e.g., blogs, video-sharing sites, RSS feeds, and mobile applications)
