The Center for School Preparedness in the U.S. Department of Education (ED)'s Office of Safe and Drug-Free Schools (OSDFS) provides support, resources, grants, and training to support emergency management efforts for local education agencies (LEAs) and institutions of higher education (IHEs). For more information about emergency planning support available through the Center for School Preparedness, please visit ED's Emergency Planning Web site at www.ed.gov/emergencyplan.
OSDFS first established the Readiness and Emergency Management for Schools Technical Assistance Center (REMS TA Center) in 2004. The REMS TA Center also provides support for LEAs, schools, and IHEs working to strengthen and improve their emergency management plans.
