The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration’s Center for Substance Abuse Prevention (SAMHSA/CSAP) is hosting a public service announcement (PSA) contest that provides young adults the opportunity to show how they are working to prevent alcohol and substance abuse and promote emotional well-being in their community.
The PSA contest will help kick off a new SAMHSA initiative called National Prevention Week 2012. SAMHSA is inviting young adults, aged 18–25, to create a 15- or 30-second PSA that embraces the theme We Are the Ones. The deadline is April 15, 2011.
The contest is open to any legal resident of the 50 United States, the District of Columbia, and U.S. Territories, between the ages of 18 and 25 at the time of entry. Individuals of any age may participate in making the video, but the entrant must be 18 to 25 years old.
The winning PSA will receive wide-reaching exposure and national distribution through online channels. It will also be installed as part of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration’s “Target America” traveling exhibit, where it will be seen by thousands of visitors.
The winning PSA team will also receive an all-expenses-paid trip to the National Association of State Alcohol and Drug Abuse Directors Annual Meeting in June 2011. The PSA will be premiered at this event.
Visit SAMHSA’s Challenges page for more information and to enter the contest.
